About Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar Yoga is a classical method of yoga developed by Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar, grounded in the ancient teachings of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. It emphasizes precision, alignment, and sustained attention in the practice of postures (asana) and breath (pranayama). Through careful sequencing and the use of props, the method allows practitioners of all ages and abilities to experience stability, clarity, and depth. Iyengar Yoga is not only a physical discipline but a path of self-study, cultivating intelligence, sensitivity, and balance in both body and mind.
Philosophy of Teaching
In the Iyengar tradition, yoga is not merely physical exercise but a path of self-study and transformation. Through precise alignment, we develop awareness. Through awareness, we cultivate understanding. Through understanding, we find freedom.
My teaching emphasizes the fundamental principles: proper alignment to create stability and space in the body; breath awareness to quiet the mind; and sustained attention to develop clarity. I believe that yoga's true value lies not in what we achieve on the mat, but in how it touches every aspect of our being.
